Snapshot: Peace & Love

A monkey cradles her baby in the arms of a Buddha statue at one of the many temple ruins in Lopburi, Thailand. I was drawn to this peaceful duo in the midst of the craziness found elsewhere at this site. Monkeys were literally running all over the place–jumping across rooftops, through windows, scampering up the sides of the building and across the grass. In fact, there’s so many mischevious monkeys here, that tourists are warned not to have anything loose on them like sunglasses, food in pockets, or anything dangling off a shoulder like a camera. I was very careful to arrive by train wearing my shoulder harness Lowepro camera bag with everything I would need for the day trip securely packed inside. Even so, twice those monkeys surprised me…each time I squatted down to take a shot at eye level, a monkey ran up and jumped on my back trying to push me over and get to my camera bag contents! (Yes, they pushed me over, but my contents remained secure.)  Camera settings: f11, 1/80, 200 ISO
