Snapshot: Hungry Wolf

When I was in Yellowstone last month, I didn’t have the opportunity to visit Lamar Valley where wolves have been reintroduced. Nor did I have the good fortune to see them elsewhere in the wild (except a trio of pups through a scope in the Tetons).  But I did get to observe them at a wolf sanctuary on the 42 acre property of Howler’s Inn B&B, located halfway between Bozeman and Livingston, Montana. And did get to hear their haunting howling early the next morning…

This photo, taken from my upstairs bedroom–through a thick window pane, at dusk, hand-held, and a ramped up ISO of 1250– is obviously compromised, but I liked the simplicity of white on white. And the story it told.  Camera info: 180mm (cropped sensor), f/4.5, 1/250, 1250 ISO.
