Fall is here…my favorite time for hiking! Cooler days, sunshine, autumn colors… And the WAVE in northern Arizona, USA, remains one of my top destinations for hiking. Permits are required (see earlier blog entry for specifics) but so worthwhile to go through the effort (even if you do have to wait a couple years!)

  At dawn along the Li River, in Xingping, China, you can glimpse the age old tradition of men fishing with cormorants. The birds, tied to bamboo rafts, dive into the water and gently retrieve the fish.
