Accessible to tourists in the summer months only, this remote region requires a 4WD to withstand lava fields, ford rivers and reach the coolest areas marked by volcanic activity. Camera settings: 80mm, f/13, 1/200, ISO 200 Hoar frosted trees atop Two Top Mountain, West Yellowstone, Montana. There’s only one way to reach the top of this mountain, and that’s by snowmobile. Fun, exhilerating and yes, freezing cold…but very cool to see these strange contorted shapes created by snow!

Gorgeous photos! we love the North Rim it is so wodnrefully peaceful and quiet there. You can sit on the rim of the canyon and not hear a single man-made sound just wind and birds. We took our sons there years ago, and my then-8-year old sat on the edge of the canyon along a hiking trail and whispered, I want to stay here forever. Sue
