Snap Shot: Wandering through Angkor Wat

Preah Khan Temple

Cambodia’s Angkor Wat complex is a vast, overwhelming sort of place that one can’t explore in a single day. Luckily, we had a week. But still…we had to narrow our choices. Which temples? Which sites? Thank goodness for great guidebooks, the internet, and a terrific local guide who led us to splendid finds. I loved the long corridors, mysterious shadows and beams of light created in the late afternoon here at Preah Khan, Temple of the Sacred Sword. When I saw the monk approaching, I knew this was the picture! I asked him to stand there while I quickly set up my tripod and took a couple of exposures to blend later in Photoshop, as the sunlight hitting the exterior doorway would have otherwise been easily blown.
