Mystery Photo: Where in the World?

What they need is a little peace… Floodwaters have submerged this sacred site and the rest of the city for almost two months now. Buddhist temples, historic sites, parks, businesses, homes are all under water from excessive rains that are reported to be the worst since WW2, hitting this particular area the hardest with 90 deaths. There are even 17 elephants stranded on a tiny concrete island. Elephants seem to get top billing in the press, but my heart goes out to the people in this city–my personal favorite in this beautiful country–who are struggling to stay afloat.  Just where is the world is it?

  • Kris Koeller - I have no idea, but its a remarkable photo. I’m guessing somewhere near Bangkok?

  • admin - Yes, about an hour north of Bangkok, in the ancient city of Ayutthaya.
